Digitisation is an increasingly important tool in the conservation and preservation of historical documents. It allows for the preservation of the original document while increasing access to the actual information through digitised copies.
At Eneclann digitisation is carried out with specialised scanning equipment that operates to archival conservation standards. Depending on the age of the print the scanned images may be suitable to run through an OCR (optical character recognition) process making them fully searchable by word.
All our scanning is supervised by trained archivists to ensure the books and manuscripts are handled correctly, and that no strain is placed on the binding.
