National Heritage Week : Nobber Medieval Triple Bill

St John’s Old Cemetery Restoration Group present a triple helping of the medieval history of Nobber in three short talks given by a trio of Ireland’s leading archaeologists as part of Heritage Week 2015. Heather A. King will discuss the importance of the previously unrecorded ‘high crosses’ found during restoration work at St John’s Old Cemetery and how they identify Nobber as an important early medieval Ecclesiastical settlement in an illustrated talk entitled “St John’s Early Treasures Revealed”. Matt Seaver will detail his findings from his ‘big dig’ in Nobber village that uncovered seven different phases of activity spanning ten centuries in a talk entitled “The Medieval Archaeological Excavations at Bridge Park, Nobber”. To finish the evening, world renowned archaeologist and Nobber native Prof. George Eogan will wrap up and give a short synopsis of various aspects of Nobber’s rich archaeological and historical legacy.
