Our fifth guest speaker will be Rob Goodbody

Rob Goodbody is a historic building consultant and local historian. He has published a number of works on local history, Quaker history and industrial heritage and has recently been awarded the Industrial Heritage Association of Ireland’s medal for publications. His most recent publication is the Royal Irish Academy’s historic towns atlas for Dublin, covering the mid-eighteenth to mid-nineteenth centuries.

Volume three of the Irish Historic Towns Atlas of Dublin was published late last year after nine years of research. In this presentation the author, Rob Goodbody, discusses the various sources that were used in the compilation of the volume. He also looks at the sources that were not used and explains the problems that led to the need to select some sources and to reject others.

Rob’s talk is entitled:

“Researching the Historic Towns Atlas for Dublin”

Date: Thursday 23rd of April

Time: 3pm

Location: National Library of Ireland.
