Delay of Deliveries due to
Adverse Weather Conditions
Please note that adverse
weather conditions are affecting both our domestic and international
deliveries at the moment. Some deliveries may take longer
than usual to arrive at their destination, so please allow
a little extra time for your order to arrive.
Our publications team
is working hard to dispatch all CDs that have been ordered,
but there is a high demand due to our current sale and this,
along with the severe weather conditions we are experiencing,
means that it is taking us longer than normal to dispatch
items.
In addition other countries
to whom we deliver, such as the UK, are also experiencing
bad weather which is compounding the problem.
We hope that during this
time you will bear with us. Members of our team have walked
nearly 7km through ice and snow to get into the office and
work through orders but we cannot operate to our usual levels
at the moment. We hope you understand that we are endeavouring
to do our best and will get your order to you as soon as possible.

We are delighted
to announce the release of a new CD-ROM, World
War 1 Irish Soldiers: Their Final Testament
compiled & edited by Kiara Gregory.
This publication
is a detailed catalogue of 9,000 surviving
wills of Irish soldiers who died in World War 1. During
the war soldiers sent to the front line were encouraged
to write their last will and testament. If they did
not survive these wills were registered.
9,000 of these
wills are deposited with the National Archives of Ireland.
These documents have never been published before, and
this CD contains copious details, including an estimated
18,000+ names (soldiers, witnesses, beneficiaries and
relatives) and is fully searchable.
It is an essential
resource for those interested in the Irish experience
of WW1 as well as genealogists and family historians
tracing Irish family members in the early 20th Century.

April 2008 - Eneclann to research
Irish Battles and Battlefields
Eneclann has been awarded a contract by the Irish Government
(OPW) to carry out historical research into key Irish Battles
and Battlefields. Eneclann is part of a consortium that includes
the consultancy Headland Archeology Ltd.
The project is being undertaken against the backdrop of a
growing awareness of, and interest in, battlefield sites not
just in Ireland but worldwide. Battlefields have not to date
been researched in any great depth in Ireland. There is a
need to provide information and to promote the conservation
and interpretation of these sites. There are also significant
educational and amenity aspects to this project.
For further details see the full press
release from the OPW or some of the press
coverage.

Eneclann Completes
Belvedere Book Project
The Board of Management of Belvedere
College in Dublin commissioned Eneclann to create a
manuscript as a testament to the legacy of the Jesuit
priests to Belvedere since 1832. The purpose was to
create a manuscript book suitable for presentation and
ultimately for long-term preservation in an archive.
The result is a magnificent manuscript book hand bound
in fine leather, which draws on the finest traditions
of calligraphy and bookbinding in Ireland. more

April 2006
- New Title from Eneclann
|
Colonial
Office Record Series, Vol. 1
Sinn
Fein and Republican Suspects 1899-1921 Dublin Castle
Special Branch Files CO 904 (193-216)
Eneclann in conjunction
with the National Archives, London, present a first
time publication of the Dublin Castle intelligence files
on individual Sinn Fein and Republican suspects between
1899 and 1921. Also known as the ‘personalities
files’, these RIC Special Branch files contain
secret intelligence on over 440 individual suspects
who were under surveillance, including Eamon de Valera,
Michael Collins, James Connolly, Roger Casement as well
as many lesser-known individuals.
A fascinating insight
into the manner and motives of the British administration
during this period which covers Home Rule agitation,
the outbreak of World War I, the 1916 Rising and the
War of Independence. The series runs from 1899 right
through to the Treaty in 1921 and is an essential source
for any detailed examination of the period.
The originals of
this series are held in the National Archives in Kew
where they are kept under Colonial Office Record Class
CO 904; in this publication we have reproduced the microfilm
version of boxes 193-216, which runs to over 19,000
pages. |
|
|
The originals were
released in 1997 under the 70-year rule. The publication
contains an in depth introduction by Dr Fearghal McGarry,
Queen’s University Belfast and comes in a choice
of either DVD or CD (set of 6).
