National Heritage Week: The history of Cruicetown parish: 1190 – 1690.

As part of Heritage Week 2015 Cruicetown Cemetery Conservation Committee will hold a free public talk and short tour of Cruicetown church and cemetery focusing on 500 years of the history of Cruicetown from its establishment as an Anglo-Norman manor in the 12th century up to the time of the Cromwellian and Williamite confiscations of the late 17th century. The site at Cruicetown contains an early Anglo-Norman motte-and-bailey castle, the late 12th century church and cemetery as well as a rare 17th century effigial tomb and cross relating to the Cruise family. Talk and tour to be given by Henry Cruise in Cruicetown cemetery on Tuesday 25th August at 7.30 PM. Please note this is an outdoor venue so dress accordingly.
